Drowning Souls

How painful to watch drowning souls
In their labyrinth of destiny
Realise they are beyond reach
Of achieving salvation’s goals

How may they overcome their sins
And not fall into the abyss?
How may they stop their temptation
Name death and hell eternal twins?

Lord with full love stretch out Your hand
To clean their ears, their eyes, their hearts
Let Your light overflow so they see
Your fullness and all You have planned

We know with mercy You will wait
At the end of their hazardous path
For the enemy will cunning be
To prevent them reaching Your gate

They groan under the yoke of sin
But we know You Lord will forgive
And grant them forever the strength
To break free from its weight and win

Fill them with Your Spirit we pray
To breathe the richness of Your world
Until temptation is no more
And the Cross and Your love hold sway
